Manifesto
Ochillo George Mbogo Ayacko · Inclusive Development for Every Migori Family.
The Migori Pledge
A people-centered approach anchored on five pillars: Agriculture & Sugar, Mining & Minerals, Education & Youth, Healthcare & Sanitation, and Infrastructure & Trade.
Agriculture & Sugar
Revive SonySugar, clear farmer arrears, stabilise cane prices, and promote value addition across Migori's sugar belt.
Sugar cane is the backbone of Migori's rural economy. Yet our farmers suffer from delayed payments, mill closures, and cheap imported sugar. My vision is to revive SonySugar, clear the billions owed in unpaid cane deliveries, and transform our sugar belt into a hub of value addition — refined sugar, ethanol, and bagasse-based electricity.
My commitment is to make Migori's sugar industry work for our farmers — not just for millers and middlemen.
Mining & Minerals
Formalise artisanal gold mining, provide safety gear, invest in mercury-free processing, and protect mining communities.
Migori sits on Kenya's richest gold belt — from Macalder in Nyatike to Osiri and Kamwango in Rongo. But our miners work in unsafe, informal conditions. Lives are lost in shaft collapses. Mercury poisons our water. Profits are siphoned by middlemen. My vision is to formalise the sector and ensure our gold builds our schools, clinics, and roads.
My commitment is to make Migori's gold mining safe, formalised, and a driver of community prosperity.
Education & Youth
Bursaries for every needy student, TVET centres in every constituency, and youth innovation hubs across Migori.
Too many bright Migori children drop out because of school fees. Too few wards have a TVET college. Youth unemployment in some wards exceeds 35%. When I was MP for Rongo, my office supported 1,200 needy students annually. As Governor, I will scale that to every ward in Migori through a transparent County Bursary Fund.
My commitment is to build a Migori where every child has a fair shot at education and every youth has a pathway to dignified work.
Healthcare & Sanitation
Upgrade Migori County Referral Hospital, equip every ward dispensary, and ensure universal NHIF coverage.
Too many Migori residents travel over 30 km to reach a functional health facility. The County Referral Hospital needs urgent upgrade. Many dispensaries lack essential drugs. Maternal mortality in some wards is double the national average. My vision is a Migori where every resident has access to quality healthcare within 5 km of their home.
My commitment is to build a Migori where healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
Infrastructure & Trade
Tarmac priority roads, streamline the Isebania border, and unlock cross-border trade with Tanzania.
Migori's economy is held back by poor roads and a bureaucratic Isebania border crossing. The Rongo–Migori–Homabay road is in disrepair. The Migori–Isebania corridor is congested. Cross-border traders are harassed by middlemen. My vision is to make Migori the gateway between Kenya and Tanzania — with tarmac roads, a streamlined border, and a logistics hub.
My commitment is to build a Migori where infrastructure works for everyone — and where cross-border trade becomes our economic engine.
